Entry Way Update

With the new living room underway, we wanted to make a few changes in the entry way to make the room flow a little nicer. If you remember BEFORE we had one of our antique wood coat racks in the entry along with the black custom built storage and seating unit. We’ve made some small changes since then including adding back our Wave Coat Hanger and painting the outside of the unit white. We also have some new outdoor mats that are much better for the winter weather.

We added this small wall shelf from Ikea to use as a catch-all for storing sunglasses, keys and other items we need on the go.

So far so good.
Around The House…

While we’re working on redecorating the living room (and a few other home-related projects) we thought we’d share a few things around the house today.
Sunday Brunch

We had some free time this past Sunday and decided to test out our 1950′s Belgian Waffle maker. Daniel picked the machine up a few months ago and has made us waffles a few times since. Today we made Belgian waffles with bananas, chocolate and lots of whipped cream.
The recipe is so easy and it only takes a few minutes to cook. Here it is:
Daniel’s Belgian Waffle Recipe (serves 2):
2 eggs
2 cups of all-purpose flour
1 3/4 cups of milk
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 teaspoon of sugar
4 teaspoons of baking powder
salt

Mix all dry ingredients together. Mix all wet ingredients separately. Combine both and mix.

Preheat waffle maker and pour the batter in. Close it and wait a few minutes while it works its magic.

While the waffles were cooking we made a chocolate sauce by melting chocolate chips with some sugar and cream in a small pot.

Oops! Almost ready…

All done! You can top the waffles with anything from eggs and bacon to chocolate. Enjoy!
