Bedroom Sneak Peek

It’s been almost a year since we’ve posted a bedroom update and a lot of things have changed since our last bedroom update post. Although we loved our plywood bedside tables and floating cabinets, we decided to go with some new pieces that are great for storage. Here’s a sneak peek of some of the changes:

Teak bedframe and floating bedside tables. Perfect for our books and magazines along with any other bedside necessities.

Tulip base jewelry stand. We love the amount of storage this provides!

We’ve kept some of the old aspects of the room like the plywood flooring and added some new things in as well. There are still a few things we’d love to change but we’re really loving the way the room is coming along so far!

Winter Holidays

Hope everyone enjoyed their holidays! We’ve been visiting family and friends, attending dinners, wrapping gifts and everything else that comes along with the busy holiday season over the past few weeks. We managed to take some time out of our days and snap a few photos.

Vintage white owl ornament and bright red wood beaded trim that we picked up at an Antique shop last year.

Simple white tree silouettes that we’ve been saving for the holidays. Since we had been attending more dinners than we were hosting this year, we kept our holiday decor simple and minimal.

Last year we went a little crazy with the vintage mercury glass ornaments and had so much fun decorating the tree (and not so much taking them down) so this year we decided to use mostly sentimental ornaments along with these beautiful huge snowball lights from Ikea. I wish we could keep them year round…

Tea lights on our new String shelving unit, more on that soon!

Vintage style wrapping paper. We stocked up on some great vintage and modern patterns for this year, and the years to come.

Eggnog mini-quiches and a Manhattan.

Top of the tree! We decided to go with a real again tree this year and ended up going to the same tree farm to pick one out and cut it down ourselves – it’s becoming a yearly tradition! Although it looks a little sparse, we were actually looking for one with long needles and minimal branches. Pretty sure we picked the “ugliest” tree of them all, but it was surely the nicest one for us!

A small sentimental mouse ornament from Daniel’s childhood.

Pretty roads while driving to and from holiday dinners.

Hope everyone is had a great holiday season and looking forward to seeing what the New Year brings for us.

Blog and Living Room Updates

Things are busy around here and it’s been awhile since we’ve written a post but we wanted to check in with a quick update on how the home is coming along. We’ve also updated the blog and hope to have some new posts coming your way in the next few weeks!

We picked up a few new items for the living room since our last update including the ceramic candelabra above. We also picked up Milk Magazine’s decoration issue (so good!) on a recent trip to Paris and also plan on stocking it on our new shop website (coming soon!).

Some newer additions to our pottery collection on the Teak wall unit with some of our older vintage pieces. We love the different textures and patterns on each piece.

New sofa in the living room. We’ll have more on that in an upcoming post.

New chrome and glass shelving unit in the living room with our Japanese polyhedron blocks, candelabra, flowers and some reading materials.

We picked up this small glass and metal display case and love its faceted shape. We were thinking about making it into a small plant terrarium to add some color to the living room.

Last but not least, we also picked up this great leather vintage lounge chair for the living room corner. It has a leather seat and bent ply frame. And it feels amazing.

Although we’ve only shared bits and pieces of our home on the blog until now we hope to share more photos and video of our home, travels and daily life on the blog soon.

Some more new things around here:

1. Hindsvik Shop New Website – It’s been an ongoing project but we’re almost finished with the new design and website for Hindsvik Shop!

2. Blog FAQ – Some frequently asked questions we always get.

3. Contact page – We’ve updated our contact info so you can find us easier wether it’s through twitter or facebook and we’ve added a link to our instagram.

4. Travel City Guides – We’re compiling a list of some of our favorite spots, shops and restaurants from our travels starting with our most recent trip to Paris!

Master Bedroom Update

After adding a closet in the upstairs hallway, we quickly realized we needed a little more space for clothing and storage in the bedroom so we decided to put the “floater space” in the bedroom to good use. We added a small clothing rack, vintage chair and a full length mirror to make it more of a dressing space. We also rearranged the cabinets to the right and plan on wall mounting them soon.

Vintage milk bottle vase, brass bowls, dala horse and wire cuff.

We were so happy to find dark walnut wood clothes hangers that matched the ones we were using in our other closet. The only difference with these is the top is black and not a silver metal. No big deal.

Gold metal cuff bracelet.

And of course Lambi sensed the camera and came strolling in…

We have a few other plans for the bedroom and upstairs area which includes knocking out a few walls, and building some in the process to accommodate a larger walk-in closet space with plenty of storage, so we’ll keep you posted!
