House N by Sou Fujimoto

In Oita, Japan sits House N by Sou Fujimoto. The house built for two has three shells, each within the other with the outermost shell covering the entire premises, creating a semi-indoor garden in the year round nice weather.

Each shell creates it’s own living space in this open concept home.

Light woods and white walls with well placed windows create an open but private space while taking advantage of the changing day light.

Sliding doors would also be a great option for more privacy in the home.

I love the low maintenance rock garden. A good idea for our own home!

  • Love all your architecture posts! They’re always very inspiring. :)

  • Whoa! Now wouldn’t that be nice as a prefab? Um, yes!

  • That home is absolutely amazing! I could never live in it but I admire anyone who could.

  • Anywhere but Japan, in a private location, it would be spectacular, but on a cramped street like this it just wouldn’t feel secluded enough for me, were it my house I would constantly feel like someone was peeking.

Not that I think the polite Japanese would do that, but still…
