Home Office Space

So Valeria’s office is finally coming along nicely. We painted the floors white for a continuous flow throughout the downstairs and rearranged some furniture. We decided to keep the “prairie dust” color in the space as it makes the room feel a little warmer but still retains a clean and simple feeling. We’ve also upgraded some of the desk accessories and brought more decor into the room.

We switched the piano and bright orange vintage filing cabinets to give more separation from the office and music equipment. This makes sense for us as we can just turn around to reach any files or papers needed and it gives more of an “office” impression on this side of the room. We also added this antique wire frame laundry basket to keep extra pillows and blankets for the living room.

We’ve been storing a lot of our favorite antique prints with the hope of finding a spot to display them one day, and this was the perfect spot! We purchased simple black Nyttja Ikea frames and they fit perfectly!

This particular Whale print is one of our favorites. It dates from the 1800′s and we purchased it on an Ebay shop for only $15!

You might remember this vintage dala horse from a living room update a while back. We moved it into the office to make room for some new living room updates (which you’ll be seeing next week!) The white plant pot is Kardemumma from Ikea and the planter to the right is a vintage Arabia pot.

New trash bin made of wood.

The piano that we purchased when we moved in. It’s been in just about every room of the house but now has a permanent home! It’s by the Farrand company in Toronto from the 1920′s and sounds very much like a parlor piano.
Hope you like our update! There’s still a few more DIY projects we’d like to do with the space, but for now we’re really happy with how it turned out!

The room looks really beautiful! I especially like the trash bin. What’s the story behind it?
I’m truly in love with your house ! Such an inspiration… Thank you for sharing. I’m pretty curious to see the bathroom too…
Yeah, did you make the trash bin? It’s very cool.
Hi Anna and Peter! Thanks for the kinds words!
The trash bin was a great find we found while thrifting. It’s definitely not vintage but we love the look of it! It’s made entirely of plywood and has a small foot pedal at the bottom.
Hope that helps!
Lau – We’ll be posting the bathroom next week so look out for it! :)
Where is the orange lamp from? I’d love to get one like that for my boyfriend.
Hi Caroline! – The lamp is actually vintage so I’m not sure where you can find one. We just got lucky with it! :)
