Shingle House by NORD Architecture

The Shingle House by NORD Architecture is a vacation home located in Dungeness, Kent in Britain with a black shingle exterior and white wood panel interior.

It is part of the Living Architecture project which is a “scheme initiated by writer Alain de Botton to create a series of vacation homes in picturesque locations, designed by prominent architects.”

The glazed concertina doors in the living room open up to the interior spaces to the beach. The entire beach is classified as a nature reserve and is filled with unusual flora and is considered a haven for birdlife.

We love the white panelled walls which create a cosier feel in the modern space.

Small rectangle windows like this are perfect for a view of the landscape and are also great for privacy.

The bedroom also opens to the outdoors, how nice would that be?

The bathroom is also beautiful, combining more traditional elements (the bathtub and faucets) with modern lines.

is there a better contrast between black roofline and open sky?
I love these white shingle walls! It really creates a lot of warmth! Beautiful.
Amazing! This house is beautiful. It is hard to find a house that flows through so nicely. The paneling is perfect.
Sorry I could not avoid looking to the environment and ambience of the interior house and make a deco suggestion: A Sinatra floor lamp from Delightfull, would look so good in that scenario.
