Tower House by Andersson Wise Architects

We recently came across this beautiful vacation home located in Leander, Texas and fell in love with the details.

Located on the waterfront along the Highland Lakes and surrounded by a canopy of oak and cedar trees, the property consists of two buildings, one original stone 1930′s cottage and a modern three-tier 30 foot slatted wood tower.

We love how the slats partially cover some of the windows throughout the tower and the contrast of sharp lines against the trees.

Slatted wood continues throughout the interior which opens up to panoramic views of the lake.

Bent plywood chair and colorful graphic pillows.

We love the sliding door leading into the master bathroom.

Two small bedrooms occupy the first and second floors, while the third floor opens to a terrace with a panorama of the lake and rolling hills.

At The Greenhouse

Last week it was a beautiful day so we decided to take a trip to the Greenhouse in hopes of livening up the house for Spring and getting some inspiration for our backyard patio.

There’s just something about greenhouses that seems really comforting. Maybe it’s the warm humid air, the greenery (which is a nice change after a long winter) or maybe it’s just the building itself? Either way, we could spend hours just walking around!

Although the building had just opened for Spring and it’s regular stock was just starting to bloom, they did have lots of plants and even a few seasonal blooms that we liked.

We walked around for awhile and got a lot of inspiration for our backyard patio which we’d like to have complete for summer.

The greenhouse cat came to say hello! And then followed us around the entire building for the rest of our visit. He was so cute!

We’ll call you “Marvin…”

Yup, he’s still following us…

We came to buy succulents, but somehow ended up coming home with a few simple Chrysanthemums instead which are looking great in the house. We’re hoping to come back soon with a few more ideas and get the house and patio all ready for Spring!

Master Bedroom Update

After adding a closet in the upstairs hallway, we quickly realized we needed a little more space for clothing and storage in the bedroom so we decided to put the “floater space” in the bedroom to good use. We added a small clothing rack, vintage chair and a full length mirror to make it more of a dressing space. We also rearranged the cabinets to the right and plan on wall mounting them soon.

Vintage milk bottle vase, brass bowls, dala horse and wire cuff.

We were so happy to find dark walnut wood clothes hangers that matched the ones we were using in our other closet. The only difference with these is the top is black and not a silver metal. No big deal.

Gold metal cuff bracelet.

And of course Lambi sensed the camera and came strolling in…

We have a few other plans for the bedroom and upstairs area which includes knocking out a few walls, and building some in the process to accommodate a larger walk-in closet space with plenty of storage, so we’ll keep you posted!
