New Sofa

We’ve been playing around with the idea of redoing our living room for awhile and recently came across this mid century sofa randomly at a local antique shop. A new sofa hadn’t been at the top of our list at all, but we somehow ended up coming home with it anyways.

We love the color of the fabric but don’t think it suits what we currently have in the room. Since the design is so simple, we’re thinking we can reupholster this sofa ourselves, maybe in a lighter color with no trim? With some basic sewing skills and a sewing machine in the house we’ll definitely be giving it a try.

The base and legs are simple and can easily be matched, so we’re looking for a matching footstool or ottoman to compliment the new sofa and also act as additional seating for when we’re entertaining or lounging around the house.

And while we were brainstorming ideas about what we could do with the living room, we found we needed a lot more things to make it functional. More storage space, more seating and a few decor items to make it pretty. So we brainstormed and made a list:

1. A large candelabra or candle holders - from A+R Store

2. Colorful and patterned pillows – from DWR

3. Large wooden serving tray for entertaining – from Emmo Home

4. Small glass coffee table to accommodate for more seating space – found on IG Ads

5. A blown-up landscape photograph from one of our travels

6. Bright green rug to add some color – from Ikea

7. A new round floor lamp for the corner – from Ikea

8. A geometric decor element – from DWR

9. A tulip or black lounge chair for the corner – from Minimalist Furniture Design

We’re Finally Back!

Hey Everyone! We’re back with a brand new look for the blog! The new design has been in the working for months (well, technically years!) and we couldn’t be happier with the redesign. One of the main issues on the old blog was poor navigational functionality and a rather cumbersome category section. On the new blog we managed to create some new features that not only let you find what you’re looking for, but also let you browse and keep in touch with the blog and us a little easier.

Here’s a few of the new things:

A Home Tour! We’ve been meaning to add this feature to our blog for so long, not only because we loved the idea, but we had a lot of requests coming in for one. Now that it’s finally here, I can’t believe we didn’t do it sooner. I have to admit that although we don’t have all of the photos we would like to have currently of the house (like the exterior and updated interior photographs) – it’s something we’ll be updating and adding to as we blog. The house has changed a lot in the past few months, so we’ll be sharing all of our updates within the coming weeks.

“Projects” is another new category which allows you to easily find any of our projects and tutorials a lot faster. You can use the drop down menu, thumbnail gallery or search bar to find what you need.

Many of the other features on the blog you can see along the right hand side menu and as you browse around. We’re still in the process of adding a few more new things and also working out some kinks here and there, so if something doesn’t look right, or isn’t working please feel free to contact us with any bugs or issues.

There’s still a lot of work ahead of us, with our new shop site launching soon, renovating new parts of the home and sharing more of our home progress on the blog, but we’re glad to be back!

Tomorrow we’ll be starting to share some of our new updates in the house and go from there!

Royal Ontario Museum Visit

We’ve been super busy this month working on our new shop website and doing some home improvements (which we’ll share shortly) but we wanted to stop in and share a visit we had last weekend to the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto. We went specifically for the Teck Suite of Galleries housing one of the largest and best mineral collections in Canada. We love the overall layout of the exhibit and clean design of the museum. Each piece is carefully curated and you could spend the entire day just walking around and browsing.

If you’re ever in Toronto, we highly recommend checking the ROM out for yourself! So many things to see!

(Just a quick update that we’re back on our blogging schedule and will be posting some home improvements shortly, as well as photos from our wedding this week! Hope you enjoyed the photos and see you soon!)
